You can try to customize your curves.  First, I would print out the purge6 file so you know where each ink tone is positioned...for the UT2 inks, the cyan is the cool gray ink.
 
Therefore, you can change the Red curve of the UT2_GlossyPP_Neutral curve to have more cyan (cool gray ink) than yellow (warm ink - via the blue curve).

However, you want the cyan to equal yellor from 25-85% and there should not be any cross-overs of cyan and yellow ink positions in these midtones.  

This is easier to do with a spectrophotometer but can be done visually as well.  Just start playing with the curves to get the visual effect you desire.

blue tone by modifying the neutral curve but I'm not sure where to
start. The EPSON sliders seem not to give enough control and the print
looses some of its smoothness.

Any advice would be appreciated!
