Yes, but you can produce B&W prints with the Epson Ultrachrome color 
inks in the UC printers.

You will need to have a B&W inkset in your 1200.  I think that the MIS 
VM inks are still available for the 1200.

You need to use profiles.

I don't know if there are any 1200 profiles, but check with Roy.  A 
more modern printer would probably give better performance and offer 
more options in terms of inks and workflows.  The 1280 or 2200 would be 
good choices.

I assume you had the OEM color inks installed.  The 1280-vm profile is 
only for the MIS VM inks and the 1280 printer.
