I'm going to stick MIS UT-FSN and maybe UT2 into the machine.  So,
metamerism is not an issue.  I think restricting the black ink to the very
deep shadows is going to make a better print.

That's exactly what it does. Personally, I think it's worth it. A slight
increase in grain is less objectionable than an overall green cast to B&W
prints.
