Hello Joel, >I have an epson 2200 which i would like to start doing some black and >white on. i am very new to the idea of black and white in digital and >would like to know if there is some book or educational material to >get started. from what i read on this thread it seems very complex >and expensive. i am an amateur and only doing this for personal >pleasure. It can be complex and expensive but it doesn't have to be. One of the best ways to get started is both easy and inexpensive. Black Only (BO) printing uses just the black ink and doesn't require partition curves or paper profiles. With no extra expense you can get started right away and begin your journey up the learning curve. As you gain some experience and learn more you can try other systems whenever you feel ready. There is good information about BO printing in a series of articles on the web site link below. It has step-by-step instructions on how to get started. If you don't mind spending a small amount of money, get an Eboni black ink cartridge from MIS. It will give superior results (this is discussed in the articles). Good luck and welcome to the forum.
