RE: [Digital BW] Re: MIS Full Spectrum Quadtone Curves

2001-10-29 by Alessandro Pardi

Daren,

I've just ordered a set of Full spectrum, and when they cross the ocean and
knock at my door I'll try to experiment with some curves (I'm a Brandin fan,
too), using Photoshop duotone sets. It's my first try at this, so don't
expect anything (especially in a short time), but who knows... I'll post my
results here, good or bad.

Martin,

Thanks for your reply. That's good info, but unfortunately there is no
way I can for see affording the Piezo software in the near or distant
future. I bought my Epson 860 for $50, so buying a $295 piece of
software just seems absurd. I'm sure it's a nice product but priced far
out of reach of a staving student/artist.

As for Woolf's workflow, it seems ok, though up till now I've been using
MIS's original Quadtones with Chris Brandin's workflow and I'm quite
used to it. The theory behind Chris's workflow (serperating tones and
assigning the appropriate coorisponding color) seems more logical than
letting the epson driver renderthe image from a drastically darkened
source (Woolf's workflow).
