John: I also get these on my new 1280. Mine seems to be a yellow nozzle that just keeps firing, sometimes two passes, sometimes twenty. It's very noticeable because I print Black Only and you can see the yellow stripe throught the print area and extending into one margin to the edge of the paper. This is a new 1280 and my old 1280 never did this. I tried de-installing and then re-installing the driver but that did not cure the problem. I have no s/w or h/w that could be related installed. I'm running XP (w/o SP2), USB2 through a hub. I must have the hub as the distance is longer than the printer cable plus it connects to two printer and a scanner. Can't be the hub as I used to run two printers and two scanners with no problem with my old 1280. I'm thinking is a problem within the printer itself and will ask Epson to swap it since it's under warranty.
