Jerry: I have the same setup you do but the same problem as John. I started with the old FSN-E inks a few years ago. My first 1280 never did this. I've always used high speed at both 1440 and 2880 dpi but did try unchecking it to see if it made any difference. It did not. But my problem is obvious. It's one yellow nozzle that sometimes starts firing while printing Black Only. It'll start at random and fire continously for 2 to 20 passes across the page, then shut off. I see no pattern to when it starts or stops. Only thing consistent is that it's always one yellow nozzle. I do think a warranty replacement printer from Epson will solve the problem.
