Bob, I think you're the "winner" in that when I reinstalled the status monitor, I lost the "communications error" pop-up, and it printed to completion. Either that, or bypassing the spooler worked. Yeah, I know, changing two things at once is a no-no, but it's late, and I'm tired. I'll reinstate the spooler tomorrow and see what happens. But I think it was the status monitor. Very peculiar problem. I should point out, as if anyone cares, that I've never had this problem with a RIP. But then, the RIP people are about selling RIPs, while Epson is really about selling paper and inks. Shouldn't surprise us that their software is of questionable quality, and yet it does....
