RE: [Digital BW] MIS original archival or MIS GP ink - for Roark and Clayton Jones

2004-09-28 by Paul Roark

Joe,

I think the MIS GP pigments are better than the original MIS Archival color
pigs. They have a higher load of pigments in them for greater color
saturation, they appear to be slightly more lightfast, and they are also
glossy paper compatible, just in case you want to try that.

If you do use the original Archival, be sure to get the version that has the
newer yellow. At least from a fade perspective, it was a significant
advance.

I'd use Eboni as the black ink when using matte paper and switch to Photo
black for glossy (if GP is used). Universal black is an option some might
like, as it is both matte and glossy compatible, but it also has dye in it.
So, it's not as archival.

Hope this helps.

Subject: [Digital BW] MIS original archival or MIS GP ink - for Rourke and
Clayton Jones

I know this forum is primarely for black and white so my apologies
in advance. I want to do some color work that is "archival" I am
confused as to which one to use, MIS original archival or MIS GP
ink? I have an epson 1280 and primarely print on matte paper of
various sorts. Also I do a lot of black only (BO) printing a la
Clayton Jones, however I understand the black used in the orginal
or GP inks is not Eboni black. Mr. Jones do you have any experience
with the blacks contained in these ink sets? If not could I
subsitute Eboni black for either? Thanks for your help.

Joe
