Sorry, my naked eye can't > tell the difference in the 1280 and 2200 dot size. But then Peter > Nelson once said I must have bad eyesight. The red and blue inks are only for color prints. This has no effect on B&W, but some of us print color, too. As to dot size, I believe the 1280 and 2200 are 4pl, but the R800 and new 5000 printer are 1.5pl. In theory, the smaller the dots, the closer together they can be placed for a given darkness, meaning less grain and sharper detail. However, using stock color inks, this may not mean less visible dots, because they're using the smaller dot size to allow them to drop the light versions of C, M and K inks. If someone comes out with a B&W inkset for the new printers, the smaller dot size could render sharper detail, although I think even the 1280 and 2200 reach the limit of what my eyes can discern, too. So I think the main benefit of the newer printers is for color printing. -- Ciao, Paul D. DeRocco Paul mailto:pderocco@...
