Doug, I have not fade tested the UT2 pigments (or any other) on Epson Glossy Photo Paper. So, I can't say how long they will last. In general, however, pigments are much less sensitive to paper types than dyes. I would not use your experience with dyes fading as relevant at all to the UT2 pigments. I'm quite sure the combination will meet your 5 year criteria. By the way, Costco now has a private label version of the Epson Glossy Photo Paper. It has a higher dmax and close to the same finish. There is just a hint of bronzing, however. Still, it is an excellent paper for quite and easy glossy printing with the Ultra Tone pigments. The Glossy Photo Paper curves are very close to correct for it (although I'm writing some specific ones for some of the new hextone FS setups). I have been using iford smooth gloss for my glossy paper. I pretty often need to make glossy prints in BW for promo packages for musicians etc, so a glossy paper that works is very important. I think mr Roark is correct that the cheapo epson paper is pretty close to working with the ut2 inks. I still say that it needs a two coat shot of print sheild, just like ilford smooth pearl does. The epson paper is more even accross the reflections, and the light midtones dont get the annoying glittery color that the ilford does, and even show alittle bit after the spray. The epson really takes the spray nicely and you cant tell it's there. The finish is only slightly glossy, much like the Darkroom papers that i used in the 70's when I was kid. Soooooo....here is my question: Will the pigment last on this paper? I found a test print that i had made with this paper about a year ago with a cannon dye printer, and it was half covered with another piece of paper.. half of the print had faded about 50%! That was with dye of course...how about the Ut2s? Keep in mind that the old test print was not sprayed.... I cant find any data on this combo. It would be nice if they would last maybe 5 years...Thanks in advance!, Doug M [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] Please visit the Group Homepage to check the Files, and other resources as they are often being updated. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint If you wish to receive no emails or just a daily digest, or you wish to unsubscribe, please edit your Membership preferences by visiting this same page.
