Digital BW, The Print

I've been messing around for two nights trying to load some of the pre-existing curves on 
Roy's site to my 1200 driver in Panther OSX. I've followed these directions a million times 
and when I try to load a curve it always says my printer doesn't exist. I'm using Piezzotone 
and just want to use some kind of curve to reduce the hot highlights I am getting on my 
test prints. I can't seem to load any curve at all with this set up. Are there some other 
directions I should be following. This shouldn't be so damn difficult just to load a curve.

Should I make a hand made curve by printing out a greyscale in Photoshop and just 
loading a  contrast curve to each file in PS. That seems crude. I don't know what I'm doing.
