Digital BW, The Print

I would appreciate input from the members of this list with regards 
to the following:
Do I need to completely purge the ink (Original MIS quad) in my CIS 
system before starting to use the VM inkset with Paul's curves.
I have Epson 1160.
Secondly, would this VM inkset produce far better prints than the 
current Original MIS quads tone for tone ?.
