Don, I can tell the difference. At 1440 my 1290 (1280USA) often shows microbanding. With 2880 it doesn't, due to the better weave and probably smaller dots. And several people have shown that printing at higher resolutions does NOT use more ink. I always use the highest resolution my various printers are capable of; the only disadvantage is time - it goes take longer to print at higher resolutions.
