Digital BW, The Print

I had this happen once on a sample image downloaded from dpReview.com.
 I thought something had happened to my printer and spent a lot of
time printing it with various settings, to no avail.  It was on every
print but did not show on screen.  I thought my printer was broken. 
Then I printed some of my images and all were fine.  Whatever caused
it, it was only in that image, and it looked exactly like your scan. 
So you might try some other images before you conclude it's a printer
problem
