As always I agree with Hans.  I just answered a nearly identical
question in the Qimage group.  My answer was that I too thought about
IP at one stage for much the same reasons. I then discovered QTR &
QTRGui for B&W work, which solved the problem of getting neutral B&W
prints from a 2200 using UC inks.  When used in conjuntion with Qimage
for page layout, you've virtually got a B&W equivalent of IP for much
less.   Given this, I wasn't convinced that the extra money for IP was
worth it for my humble requirements. 

By all means, if you need IP's functionality, buy it, but if your
interest is mostly in B&W, then personally I'd regard it as a little
crazy if you didn't at least try QTR(Gui) first.
