Don I work this way - with a 1290 and VM or the MIS archival colour. I find that the biggest problem is that you sometimes get banding on the prints after a switch. I think this is caused by bubbles in the carts - it's certainly more frequent after I've just refilled. So this discourages me from making very frequent changes. I find that the new ink comes through quickly after. Usually I don't even bother to do a purge as my first print will normally be a proof for a new picture I'm starting to work on and the residual ink in the lines has an unnoticeable effect (to my eye) on the output.
