Epson 1280 Cart Question

Epson 1280 Cart Question

2004-11-10 by donbga

Since I now have a new Epson 1280 and considering installing MIS UT2
ink carts I'm curious to know if it is possible to change the black
ink cart on the fly so to speak to print on glossy and matt papers?

I can't recall if this is possible with the 1280.

Thanks,

Don Bryant

Thanks Bob!

Let me abstract my question a bit more. Could one easily switch from
hextone to color inks given that a small cleaning or purge would be
required?

Don: again, same ease. A few cleaning cycles usually cleans it up. But
remember a cleaning cycle does use quite a bit of ink. Eventually,
you'll end up switching less and less.

My configuration changes frequently, but right now I'm using Eboni K
and dye color in my 1280. But just love the look a BO using Eboni.

Don

I work this way - with a 1290 and VM or the MIS archival colour. I
find that the biggest problem is that you sometimes get banding on
the prints after a switch. I think this is caused by bubbles in the
carts - it's certainly more frequent after I've just refilled.

So this discourages me from making very frequent changes.

I find that the new ink comes through quickly after. Usually I don't
even bother to do a purge as my first print will normally be a proof
for a new picture I'm starting to work on and the residual ink in the
lines has an unnoticeable effect (to my eye) on the output.

Cheers

Chris

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
