I had an 860 for several years and did some cartridge refilling for it - tried out several MIS B&W inks. Those cartridges, which are the same as the 1160 uses, were a royal pain to refill, compared to the other (Canon) cartridges that I've been refilling for just as long. Some of the new Epson (e.g., C84) cartridges are as simple and hassle free as the Canon cartridges (except for resetting the chips, which only takes a few seconds) where you just pop out a rubber plug and refill the reservoir. But the old ones, where you had to suck out a load of foamy ink before refilling, were almost more trouble than they were worth (to me, anyway.) If I still had the 860 and wanted to use it on a regular basis I certainly would have looked at a CFS for it rather than try to refill cartridges. Instead, I got the C84 and a CFS with the MIS EZ inks - what a dream setup, if you don't need variable tone control.
