RE: [Digital BW] Costco paper... be careful!

2004-11-22 by Paul Roark

Ilford is the major Swiss paper source, but there is at least one other --
Folex.

I've requested some samples of Ilford papers that appear to be different
from the Galerie series. So, we'll see what I can get.

Ilford could well be the source of some Epson paper.

I think there must be a way to find out what the swiss paper actually
is. Isnt there only one photo paper company in switzerland? It probaly
is also sold under several names. It looks like regular glossy paper on
the front, not too glossy, but more glossy that cheap epson glossy.
When you spray the costco with print sheild, it is a bit less glossy,
which is almost a good thing, although a lot of images prob dont need
to be sprayed......but either way, the paper is nice to feel, and
mainly, the best thing is that the image looks real good. As good as
photo rag let's say. Of course they wont last forever, but probably for
headshots and such, plenty long enough! Right now i cant remember if
the box i got says anything on the back, but think it was blank. That
seems weird if i am following paul right when he says that his said
epson on the back......hmmmm....if it said epson, wouldnt that mean
that is an epson paper? that we can get somewhere else?.....but at five
times the price?......keep you posted DM
