What use will you be doing of a digital camera ? If it is just for your leisure you might get disappointed, not on the result if you buy a high end equipment, but on the practical aspects around it. No slides to watch or to project, hassle to burn CDs and classified them properly if you want to find quickly the picture you are looking for.
Would you be reading a book on your screen ? probably not, nobody does that because it is not user friendly. It is exactly the same for your pictures. Digital is somewhere immaterial, there is no real hard support.
Technology goes so fast that your equipment will be obsolete next year and you will feel having thrown money into the drain.
Then if you read this forum since last week there were long exchanges on storage, think about it carefully, to me it is a big issue.
So you have two ways to go, either the above aren't problems then you go for prime equipment and burst you bank account, or you are not so sure and want to give a try then you buy a cheap set keeping in mind that you can obtain much better result with high end stuff.

  Cheers
  Michel
