Rather than mess around with pads, I would use the waste by-pass set 
up. It would take about the same amount of time to install and in 
the end is much easier to manage. On the 9000 it is a real snap. I 
helped a friend with a 7000 set one up. You have to scout around a 
bit to find the best way to snake the lines down to a bottle. I 
bought 1/8" plastic tubing and press fitted the two small white 
tubes into it as far as I could (about 1/4"). yes, you need two 
lengths.

Be careful not to put the tubing too far into the bottle, so it 
doesn't syphon the ink from the cart!

Last I remember, in the files section of the Wide Format group there 
was a pretty detailed explanation.
