I've been using Piezography for several years and also recently tried a black-only print on 
my Epson 4000.  I was blown away with the quality.  It didn't look exactly like a Piezo print 
but with a little adjustment here and there it looked terrific.  I was printing on Moab 
Entrada Bright White with a small gamut profile.

This is certainly a viable option and you can introduce other colors into the image without 
having to change inksets.
