Mark, I am only just now reading this, sorry I couldn't have been more timely. I had the same problem with my 7600 with UT7 carts from MIS. In the end I had to get a replacement cart from MIS. Basically, either the cartridge chip: A) Has dirty contacts - try cleaning the ship off and re-inserting B) Has become mis-aligned - try shimming the cart on the top and bottom. keep an eye on the error screen and wiggle the inserted card up and down to see if you can get it aligned. C) The chip is bad. - Apparently sometimes this happens. The chip just loses its mind and must be replaced. Two options. get a new chip, remove the old one and glue the new one in its place. Or, get a new cart. Realize that the aftermarket carts used by any company other than Epson are reverse engineered and manufactured overseas in varying states of quality. A huge part of the third party ink sellers task is getting quality carts to work properly with the printers. I know that none of this really made me feel better when I was wrestling with it months ago but I ended up with a set of carts that worked in the end. Let me know how things come out.
