Thanks for the warm welcome Stedman and Paul. I look forward to learning much more about digital B&W printing techniques so that my photos of Alaska will reflect it's beauty in some small measure. Actually, many of my photos reflect both the beauty of Alaska's natural environment and the ugliness of man's impact upon it. Anchorage itself is in many ways an eyesore. There's alot of truth to the local saying: "There's only one good thing about Anchorage...it's close to Alaska". I've lived in Alaska for about 15 years, but I imagine seeing it again after a 30 year absence, there would be alot of changes to both the man-made and natural environments. There are photos I've made over the past 15 years which would be impossible for me to make today. Whether due to global warming or other environmental changes, the glaciers have clearly retreated alot in this area. Not a good sign. Gary Benson Eagle River, Alaska
