Hello Mike, One advantage of the 2200 is an ability to control the % ink level applied to the print. I have found this to be an important control in getting results I want with UT7. I don't think the 1280 has that (someone correct me if I'm wrong). The 2200 also has a rear paper feeder, very handy for real thick stock. > Since the 1280 is a dye printer, will it have problems using pigment > inks? I haven't kept score, but I have a definite impression that there are many more 1280 clogging complaints here in this forum than for the 2200. If you can afford the 2200 I'd recommend that one. MIS now has the new transparent top-fill carts for it. It's a great printer. Regards, Clayton Info on black and white digital printing at http://www.cjcom.net/digiprnarts.htm
