True, no question that a high quality scan of a well exposed 4x5 negative can produce much larger images and prints, but I was not talking about the theoretical MP equivalence of 4x5 . I said that if one wanted to make images with a single shot digital camera suitable for producing images with the same quality as the images I obtained with the 4x5 and the stitched 10D, which were both designed to be printed at approximately 16x20 inches at 360 ppi, then you would need a 40 MP digital camera.
