If you preview a fully-desaturated RGB image (i.e., r = g = b everywhere) through an RGB profile and see a strong color cast, something is wrong. If your fully desaturated image looks neutral on your calibrated monitor in RGB view but turns purple when you select "Proof Colors" then seems like monitor calibration is not the issue. If preview through a different profile (from another source) looks ok, the first profile could be corrupted. If all profiles generate purple previews, then the profile is not the issue. If none of those tests isolates the problem, and you are confident all color settings are correct, you might try uninstalling and reinstalling Photoshop. Conceivably your software installation is corrupted. Richard Wolfson Fine Art Photographer & Digital Imaging Consultant
