Ciba(-Geigy) acquired Ilford and later Ilford was split off again taking with it the Cibachrome/Ilfachrome part that was situated in Switzerland. Ciba is a much larger international chemical group than Ilford ever was, the farmaceutical group Novartis is related to it. My guess is that the Swiss part kept close relations with Ciba and used their inkjet technology for the Ilford dye and pigment inks + paper coatings. The Swiss - inkjet part of Ilford is also the healthy part of Ilford, the English part was more in the analogue film and paper business and at something like chapter 11. Ilford is a NE area of London. Ciba Specialty Chemicals, search through textile inks to digital inks http://www.cibasc.com/pf/Default.asp?ind=04&sind=27 If you ever intend to mix more than liters you better phone them. There's a huge coating company in Switzerland that may be part of Sihl but at least Sihl get their papers coated their. Rumour had it that Hahnemuhle also had their papers coated there. So it doesn't have to be Ilford in Swiss that makes the paper discussed. Ernst
