The convenience of being able to print on both glossy and matte papers is
nice, and a major benefit to the UT2 and UT7 inksets. However, if you want
the very best dmax, Photo black ink might be worth considering. In my
latest 7500 UT-FSN+ setup the "+" is largely that I have MIS PK in the
printer (in the M spot, but it's a different inkset). You might want to try
PK in the black position and then just try the sliders and see if they work
and give you a better dmax.

Subject: [Digital BW] Ilford Galerie Pearl and Kirkland with UT2 Eboni

I was having a difficult time printing to Ilford Galerie Smooth Pearl
with Paul's workflow. I finally tried QTR and am now getting
successful prints with no artifacts from over-inking. Incidentally the
settings I use for Ilford also work well for the Kirkland glossy
paper. Other than the surface and specular bronzing issues, I cannot
tell the two apart (Dmax looks the same, whites look the same).

I have not yet tried QTR for EEM; for my current work I need the Dmax
of the glossy papers so I haven't experimented with QTR on EEM.

If anyone thinks I might do better with different settings, please
advise!

My setup:
Epson 1280 / UT2 (Eboni)
QTR RIP
dither:ordered, resolution:1440, speed: better
Paper:Premium Glossy Photo Paper

For a slightly warm print
UT2-HWilliamT-carbon-2 50% UT2-HwillaimT-neutral-2

For a slightly cool print
UT2-HWilliamT-carbon-2 50% UT2-HwillaimT-cool-1

Another slightly neutral print
UT2-HwillaimT-neutral-2
