I've just spent an afternoon with QTR, newly installed...it certainly has resolved most of my main concerns about B&W/2200... I used one exceptionally wide-ranged, highly detailed scan of a beautiful industrial photo (better than my own work :-)...everything from tiny specular highlights to deepest blacks... Using the Epson pig set I've printed (and made notes on) ten different versions starting with coldest possible, cold black/heavy sepia, cold black/heavy warm, cold black/slightly warm etc etc etc... They're ALL satisfactory (depending upon what you want tone-wise)...none of the "crossover" and weirdness that I've gotten a lot of when printing directly from the Epson driver. Maybe there's a better way to fly, but QTR is a huge step in the right direction. My next step is to see how this relates to Qimage, or how Qimage can approximate this...or if they're good partners in some way.
