Paul, The point about the HighGloss Ultrachromes of the R800 is that the inks are HighGloss (on the right paper eg Premium Glossy) without the Gloss Optimizer. They don't suffer from bronzing like the normal Ultrachromes of the 2200/4000 etc. The Gloss Optimizer in the R800 only fills in the white and near-white areas of the print which are less glossy than the HighGloss Ultrachrome printed areas. The Gloss Optimiser in the R800 DOES NOT make the Ultrachrome inks glossy by being sprayed over the whole print, as many seem to think. The little Epson Picturemate has the same HighGloss Ultrachrome inks but no Gloss Optimizer. You can see white areas are less glossy than the inked areas with that printer. You can also turn off the Gloss Optimizer in the R800 and the prints are still glossy (they just have less glossy white areas like the Picturemate). Spraying GO over entire prints printed with normal Ultrachromes or other inks may improve them, but it is not what the R800 does. What we are most interested in is integrating it into the inkset like with the R800 in order to eliminate gloss differentials and bronzing.
