Using my Epson 3200 I just scanned 60 frames of 35mm @ 20seconds per frame, then using Qimage I printed them all at 3.5X5 within an additional half hour, doing zero corrections, and got better-than-minilab results, including neutral blacks via Epson 2200 OEM pigments on Epson Enhanced Matte. In other words, 3 rolls of 35mm enlarged proofs within less than an hour. I used 360dpi, which looks great at that small size. When I select frames I'll scan at 3200dpi which will look sharp and detailed at A2, matching closely what I see on my 19" flat screen Samsung. I'll spray the final Epson Enhanced Matte enlargements with Premier Art Print Shield, just to emphasize the deepest blacks. The film is Kodak High Definition color negative, which tends to bloom a little too much in specular or backlit highlights, but is otherwise beautiful and fine-grained. Processed at a typical mediocre minilab, this lot has fewer than average scratches because I didn't let them cut it.
