Digital BW, The Print

Hello all. I am new to this forum so forgive me if this question 
does not apply here. I have done traditional B&W printing for years 
and only just now went to digital. I am curious to know which 
printer out there is going to give me the best bang for the buck. I 
am looking very hard at an Epson R800. Also, if this printer is 
acceptable, is there a preferred paper?
