Printing B&W

2005-01-17 by David N. VanMeter

Hello all. I am new to this forum so forgive me if this question
does not apply here. I have done traditional B&W printing for years
and only just now went to digital. I am curious to know which
printer out there is going to give me the best bang for the buck. I
am looking very hard at an Epson R800. Also, if this printer is
acceptable, is there a preferred paper?

Piece of cake:

Epson C86 and MIS EZ-inks.

Although, you're limited to 8.5x11".

Not wanting to miss the best of both worlds, how does this printer
handle color photos?

I have no idea, I put the EZinks into a "virgin" C86.

I understand it's not as good as the 6-color printers. And far from
the R-800 (which I do own and it's amazing. I'm waiting for that
technology to be used in the wide-format Epson printers).

I use my C86 with easy-refill carts and MIS 2200 UC-clone color inks. The
4-ink printer is not as smooth as the best hextones, but I did over 100
cards last month with it and everyone thought they were fine.

the color output is pretty good on a couple of papers, but it is either
color or BW. Not both.....DM
