I am waiting for some paint to dry so I thought I would go on with
this post...by the way you probably noticed all the typos I make!!
When I first started fine inkjet printing I was lucky in that a
Photographer named Phil Bard was at that time liviing in
Pasadena,CA. He was and still is very knowledgable in all this
stuff. I called him on the phone and he invited me over to look at
his studio. He showed my some unbelievably beautiful prints of
his photographs printed with Piezo inks. He suggested a place
for me to have some negatives scanned properly and than
showed me some techniques in photoshop that helped him
achieve the quality of the work...and than he adjusted my scans
and made beatiful prints of my shots at a ridiculously low price-
All just to show me the potential of the new medium..well I was
sold and have been struggling ever since. I think it is very difficult
to achieve good results when everything matters. Good
negatives, good scans, proper adjustments in photoshop,
monitor calibration, soft proof correct, the right paper and ink
combination. That's why having to suck out tubes every other
month is such a pain....
The generosity of some people and the value of discussion
groups like this is an incredible resource and I love it.
