I just use the sharp corner of a small jewler's screwdriver (the kind you
tighten the screws in your glasses with). There's usually a small cavity
between the chip and the cartridge you can pry it into and behind the
chip. Then just pop it off.

Tools? Depending on your age, good reading glasses :)
