Re: [Digital BW] Good deal? Fine Art Paper (Moab / Brightcube)

2005-01-25 by Tom Baker

I use the Satine a lot. Some folks I print larger photographs love it. Won't use anything else. It is quite white, and the extra body makes it rather nice to work with. I'm printing both b&w and color on it with a 9600 and Imageprint.

I have someone offer me a good deal on the fineart paper same as Moab
Paper Entrada 190 Natural or Brightcube Eclipse Satin. Would like to
see if anyone used this paper and any comments about it.

According to Moab's website: "Entrada Fine Art Bright White is a dual
sided 100% cotton rag paper. It utilizes multiple receiving layers
which equate to a superior ink load capacity allowing for features
unique to Entrada, including water resistance, instant drying times
and prints with incredible detail and excellent tonality. Entrada also
features a maximum color gamut and exceptionally deep blacks. This
paper is compatible with both dye and pigment inks and works
remarkably well with the latest Epson Ultrachrome inks. The 190gsm
Natural version is a mid to heavy weight which will still load in most
desktop printers and is ideal for natural tones and warm highlights."

According to inkjetart.com's "Media recommendations for Epson
UltraChrome Inks":

"ECLIPSE Brightcube's "Eclipse" is a double-sided (inkjet coated on
both sides). This paper is great for books and portfolios pages.
Although Hahnemuhle makes a double-sided version of their "Photo Rag",
called "Duo", many of our customers prefer the Eclipse "Satine" (it's
also less expense than the Duo)".

The size is 24inch x 66 ft. I just checked the moab website they sells
it for $170 a roll.

Any direct usage experience or comments on the price compare with
similar paper? If it worth to take it if I can get it for half of
Moab's price?

Thanks.
