Digital BW, The Print

At face value, there really isn't much difference btw
the two.  The 2880 dpi setting on the 1280 is really
more for glossy media, not so much for matte surfaces.
 BUT, if you plan on using the MIS VM inks, you'll
need to get the 1280  ..unless you want to help Paul
develop curves for the 1270(or wait for them).  
I have both, 1270 for color, 1280 for B&W(w/MIS VM). 
I consider them identical for my purposes.

  ..on the other hand, if you want to use the MIS Full
Spectrum inks with a Piezo driver, I believe you can
use the 1270.  Can anyone verify this?
