Re: Changing inks (Cone vs. MIS FS)

2001-11-16 by Martin Wesley

Mark,

DDS? I assume major clogging and green problems?

I wouldn't mix the two inks. You would be introducing a real unknown
into the whole system and things can get complicated enough as it is.
Why don't you hang onto the Piezo inks in case you don't like the MIS
FS?

The FS has been out a few months. I have heard of clogging with the
original MIS quads in their early versions. I have not heard much in
the way of clogs with the current MIS inksets. I have had nozzle
clogs with the VM about 3 or 4 time since I started with them in
July. The worst took 3 nozzle cleaning cycles and the others cleared
with one. No overnight waits. Even when starting up with the CIS it
immediately ran as soon as I put the cartridges in.

The FS is not an exact match to the Piezo inks so an image you have
adjusted to print well with Piezo inks may require some adjustment.
The tone is also a bit different.

Martin Wesley
