Digital BW, The Print

What little hair I have remaining is being rapidly depleted by BW 
print frustration and I wonder if there is a remedy...  perhaps if I 
could get answers to these questions??


At the moment I am using an Epson R200 (same as R300) and Ilford 
Gallerie smooth pearl (because I have a lot of it) with Epson OEM 
inks.

I want to print toned b/w prints, warm grey or selenium like in 
appearance.  Is it possible to do this with Epson OEM inks?  On the 
R200?  Without a random assortment of casts and shadow hues making an 
unwelcome appearance....

If, as I suspect, I will be steered towards QTR RIP will I need to 
change printers?  If so to what - A4 only please, and 'cheap on ebay'!
