RE: [Digital BW] Epson 3000 Inkset

2005-02-09 by Paul Roark

Remko,

The MIS UT inkset works on the 3000, but it is a bit rough.

The UT-FSN is the one I'd favor for that old machine. It can make good
display prints. I have some curves for EEM, PhotoRag and Premium Matte (but
this was the original, and I don't know what the current version prints
like).

I see the 3000 as a bit long in the tooth, but for 16 x 20 and matte paper,
it's still the most affordable way to get there. In actual practice, I
doubt anyone could tell the difference between a 3000 matte 16 x 20 and one
done on a 7600.

Subject: [Digital BW] Epson 300 Inkset

after several years of trouble with the Piezo ink on a 1160 I decided
to change to MIS inks.

I now have the choice betweeen a 2100/2200 and or a refurbished 3000
I got.

The ink choice for the 2110/2200 is more or less clear to me however
the ink for the 300 is confusing. Paul Roark is speaking of a varibal
tone ink but on the M IS site I only find FS and FSN inks.

I also understood a good option is to use the Eboni black and
Photoblack in the 2100/2200 together with the color-inkset in the
2100/2200.

I hope to get some advise in deciding what to do.
