RE: [Digital BW] For Paul/creating a gamma curve for soft proofing

2005-02-09 by Paul Roark

I just changed #7 to indicate that it is the Profiles list where you'll find
the new custom dot gain curve. After you select that, the "Preserve Color
Numbers" should be able to be checked. You have to select the new profile
before the box becomes active.

Great, that answers my biggest concern. Now I just need to know about this
one for step
# 7.

Instructions read.....7. Now you are back at the image file you had
originally opened. Go
to View, Proof Setup, Custom. The new curve you made should be in the list,
probably at
the bottom –Select it. Then check "Preserve Color Numbers." The image on
the monitor
should then look like it did while you were making the curve. Hit OK.

My questions is, I am unable to check "preserve color number" because it is
grayed out.
Am I doing something wrong? Also, what should the intent be set
to...perceptual,
absolute colorimetric or one of the other?

And for anyone that has not tried this profiling method, you should try it
because it is
saving me from buying an expensive calibration device and I am not waisting
paper any
more. THANK YOU PAUL FOR GIVING US THIS VALUABLE PIECE OF INFORMATION.
