Re: [Digital BW] MIS Inks QC?

Yes. I used the VM inks in an 1160 and UT2 inks in a 1280 over a period of
about two years. The QC problems I had ranged from ink spattering out of
cartridges to chips improperly placed or otherwise defective to no toner
being in some of the channels to my biggest and final problem which was an
inability to make a neutral black and white prints (using UT2 on the 1280 to
which I had switched from VM and an 1160 in unsuccessful effort to cure the
problem) because everything had a magenta tint to it.

At that point I gave up and switched to QTR with UC inks in a 2200 with
which I've been extremely happy. The people at MIS were very nice, you could
always talk to a human being, they always replaced bad cartridges with a
good one without any hassle (I"m surprised they asked you to return the
defective cartridges, they always just sent me replacements without
requiring a return), and in every respect other than QC they were great
people to deal with plus Paul Roark was very helpful and a great resource.
But I couldn't accept the magenta prints.

I later read some messages here indicating that there had been some problems
with a large batch of inks they bought and I guess that was the cause of my
final problem. But by then QTR had come along so I haven't revisited MIS.
Despite this, I'd recommend MIS and the Roark curves to anyone who for
whatever reason can't or doesn't want to use QTR, on the assumption that the
bad ink problem (assuming it was the cause of my problem, which I think it
was) has been fixed. When things worked they worked great and with their low
cost and easy exchange policy I could put up with the occasional defective
cartridge, I just couldn't handle the magenta prints I got at the end.

Subject: [Digital BW] MIS Inks QC?

Have any of you good folks who use MIS inks run into Quality control
issues?
I have just started to use them and was getting some great results in
with my Epson 2000P. I am using their pre filed cartridges of the
UTFSN ink set. When they work I get a very nice neutral toned B&W
print. They really look good. But I just got my second bad ink
cartridge from them. The first one leaked and was unrecognizable to
my printer. So I got in touch with there customer service dept and
they said ship it back and we will send you a new one. Well ok but
then I am out the cost of shipping it back. Well the six bucks would
not break my bank so I did. In the mean time I ordered a second
cartridge of the five shades of gray to replace my color cartridge.
Well I put it in my printer and I am told that the cartridge is
empty. At this point I am a very unhappy camper.

I called a friend who refills her ink cartridges and get her to bring
me her chip resetter. Well I reset the chip and put it back into my
printer. It still says that it is empty. I can put my Epson ink back
in and the printer is happy.

And of course all this happens after MIS is closed for the day. So I
left them a message and I hope to hear back from them first thing in
the morning.

So my question is have any of you had these same problems or is it
just a run of bad luck. I bought a new hard drive on Wednesday and it
was bad?Go figure.

Thanks for any input you good folks might be able to give me.

Michael
