Maybe this will help others, learning from my mistakes. A while ago, I posted that I was seeing very soft looking prints from my brand new Epson C86 with the durabrite inks. (I didn't want to try the MIS EZ Warm inks until this was resolved) After considering paper and ink differences, I found the REAL culprit. It came down to me having an embedded profile in the images where there should be none. I put this together after reading Paul's page here: http://home1.gte.net/res09aij/C86-EZ-UT- Readme.htm You can check for the embedded profile from Photoshop CS (on Mac OS X) by to IMAGE-->MODE-->ASSIGN PROFILE and review the options. And then when you go to print with preview, setting the OS X (Mac) print dialog box (under more options) to Source Space: Document Untagged Gray and Print Space to: Profile: Printer Color Management Intent: Relative Colormetric. I think the softness I was seeing was actually too much ink being sprayed on the paper, creating apparent softness. Now it is as sharp as the HP prints I made of the same images some weeks ago. I will keep playing around with this, but it is very good already. Next step - install the MIS EZ Inks and test again and find a paper I love that is archival. I'm getting there! Best, -Lynn
