Hello Vinicio, >I'd like to get a good printer to make at least 11X14 and maybe >16X20 prints. I am considering an Epson 2200 or 4000. What say >thee professionals and amateurs? Are there better alternatives? Is >the 4000 really cheaper in the long run on ink? What would give me >the most for my money? Thanks in advance! They are both excellent printers and use the same inks, so it really depends on what size prints you want to make. If you ever want to make 16x20 then there's no question a 4000 (or bigger) is needed. If you don't, then why spend the extra money? The 4000 is "expensive" in other ways. It takes up a lot more space (minimum 30x30") and weighs about 90 lbs. The ink carts are bigger and cost more, plus they are not located on the head. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think this means that changing inks to try other things is a much bigger chore because of having to purge the lines, and more expensive because of extra ink in the lines. The 2200 now has the nice top-fill carts, so it's easy, quick, and relatively inexpensive to swap inks and try different combinations.
