RE: [Digital BW] Scanner opinions

I had the LS2000 several years ago, and I agree it was v. poor. However the
LS9000 is a different beast quality-wise, and it scans MF

The Microtek 120tf is a great film scanner, I use silverfast software with
it, and the optional glass mount for edge to edge sharpness. I prefer to
scan RAW and then process thru silverfasts HDR in positive, avoiding the
'film neg correction' interpretation. The price is now a lot less than I
paid, worth every penny, and came with the silverfast software and HDR, full
version. I had some 35mm files scanned by it and printed 24 x 36 thru studio
print using piezo inks.. One 'master scanner' who scans for hire, using a
drum scanner solely, thought it was from a drum scanned neg.

I had no luck with Vuescan with this scanner, could have been my Mac OS,
which with Vuescan is always klunky and tiresome, many spinning wheels.
Experienced very strange behaviours within the scan quality as well.

Just very happy with the Microtek and silverfast workflow. I personally will
not use another Nikon film scanner... A opinion based on past experience
with an LS2000. (old I know, and probably not relevant :)).
