The purging patterns on the MIS web site are helpful, they have one for 4 color printers (which would be suitable for C84/86) and 6/7 color for more sofisticated units. There is a pattern/sequence in the cleaning cycles , short burst for the first, then long for the middle one and another short burst for the third- this then repeats itself, however it will not help or even make the clog worse to keep cleaning ad nauseam. The neanderthal providing tech support should not have advised you to keep using the cleaning cycles. If you have downloaded the purging pattern from MIS (which you should use at least once a week, in order to avoid any major clogs) the best procedure if you have a rebel clog is to do a nozzle check, then cleaning, another nozzle check, second cleaning, nozzle check, third cleaning, nozzle check then print the MIS purge pattern and repeat procedure if you still see streaking in what should be solid blocks of black and grey. If this does not work, MIS details a few procedures involving Windex (see their troubleshooting guide). Endless cleaning cycles will flood the dumping sponge and create a big mess without solving the initial problem. I got pretty livid. She kept saying, "bear with me" but I was paying for the ink. Anyway, it worked. One thing I always do when I have to clean is go through the alignment setup also. This can cause banding also. Seth [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
