Chris, >... question about the UT2 inks for the Epson 1280 printers. >MIS says that the Eboni K is used for matte papers and >the Photo K is used for glossy papers. In general, that is correct. > Paul Roark's site says you can use the Eboni >for glossy too and just need the curves. With curves you can print on glossy paper with the UT2 inkset and Eboni in the K position. The curves generate a good dmax with the 2 dark gray inks. The curves cut the Eboni out entirely with glossy paper. Since the dmax the curves can generate with the 2 dark grays is often as good as or better than the PK, I stopped supporting the PK in these inksets. On the other hand, this was before PKN was around. I suspect PKN might generate the best dmax. If you want to print using sliders, for example from a non-Photoshop program, then you'd have to use PK or PKN for glossy paper. Because I like to be able to print on matte paper, I always have Eboni in my hextone printers and use the 2 dark grays to generate the black with appropriate curves. Paul www.PaulRoark.com
