Even so, you're still printing through _some_ combination of settings, which you only get to see and change if you use Print With Preview, and then look at the driver properties. The Epson driver doesn't know that you're using quadtones, so it still does the same thing that it does when printing color. I would hope that MIS would have provided more guidance, but if they didn't, it would be easy enough to print step wedges under different combinations of settings to see what produced the best grayscale. "Same as Source" does essentially the same thing as "Printer Color Management" if the driver is in a mode that ignores profiles. So it's possible that SAS works okay, as long as the driver is set to Color Controls, instead of ICM/ColorSync. In that mode, the driver is interpreting the input as sRGB, so is already pretty nicely linearized. That would be my guess for the right setup, not having MIS's docs at my disposal. -- Ciao, Paul D.
